ACTING FOR VOICE OVER – January Start – 8 Weeks of Class: Voice Over is also called Voice Acting. Anybody can READ… but can they ACT? Voice Actors need acting skills just as much as stage actors and film actors. This class is here to help! There are many different ways to approach any acting role, and you will learn the teachings of the great masters and how to use them in your voice acting so you can approach any project with confidence. You will apply these skills to a variety of characters in various voice over genres like animation, video games, commercials, and audiobooks. No pre-requisite. Intermediate Level.
AUDIOBOOK VOICE OVER – March Start (Even Years) – 8 Weeks of Class: Our Voice Over for Audiobooks class is a great place to begin your understanding of the ever-growing audiobook category of voice over work. We focus on the technical (articulation, breathing, consistency, stamina) as well as the artistic (interpretation, developing well-defined voices, delivery). We give you an overview of what the industry looks like in the audiobook field while using existing novels to help you find and develop characters. You will have many opportunities to read in front of the class and your coach, helping you to enhance the qualities in your characters and in your own voice. No pre-requisite. Intermediate Level.
COMMERCIAL VOICE OVER – March Start (Odd Years) – 8 Weeks of Class: You know you hear the same types of voice over and over in ads – but what are they, and how do they get those sounds? What does it take to book? Who is your audience when you read a commercial? Learn all of this and more in this Commercial VO Class! No pre-requisite. Intermediate Level.
ACCENTS CLASS – June Start – 6 Weeks of Class: New starting Summer 2025! Learn to do AUTHENTIC ACCENTS for Voice Over work. It’s true that most bookings will need your own natural accent, but sometimes you can expand your opportunites by having other accents available! The key is to approach it academically and phonetically – not just to “wing it.” Dyane has coached hundreds of actors on achieving their ideal accent for work purposes. In this class, the accents you will work on are: American Southern, New York, Puerto Rican, Irish, and French. A great starting point!
VOICE OVER DEMO PRODUCTION CLASS – June Start – 6 Weeks – By Invitation Only: This is our most advanced voice over class with a large portion of the time being spent in a recording studio. If you are invited to enroll after taking other classes and achieving the necessary skills, you will have the benefit of Dyane Filip as your producer working together with the pro engineer at our studio connection.
In today’s market, Voice Over Artists do their recording almost entirely from their home studios.
Our Voice Over classes are also conducted remotely, on Zoom!
This is in the best interest of anyone interested in actually doing voice overs,
as you will need to know how to record yourself with your own equipment.
Equipment Needed:
You will need a computer with a camera and a microphone, and a reliable internet connection.
You may already have a microphone, or headset with a microphone,
that will be adequate certain Voice Over classes, especially those that are intro level.
Your instructor will assess your microphone during the first class and let you know if you need something better / clearer.
If you do need a different mic, we can recommend some that are reasonably priced.
We can’t wait to help you explore the world of Voice Over!
Be sure to check your schedule carefully before enrolling, as there are no refunds issued under any circumstances.
